Ginny Krueger

Since childhood, I have been fascinated with the wonders of life found in the natural world. The seasons, and the palette of each, hold significance for me. I am driven to make art that is elemental and evocative. I paint on wood panels using the encaustic medium which is a mixture of beeswax, damar crystals, and pigment. The hot liquid wax mixture is painted and then fused to the wood with a propane torch. This medium suits me because it has a warm aroma, a lush and sensuous touch, and an unrivaled luster.

I envision each painting as a medley, a melded place, where the gritty and sublime combine.

I have a Master’s of Fine Art degree in painting and drawing. I continuously seek out new and varied experiences through post-graduate study and artist-in-residency opportunities. Water media painting, glass casting, and printmaking are disciplines that also engage me.

All of the art in Ginny’s Blue Moon Collection is available for purchase.

Ginny’s Series

From the Unlikely Garden — The “unlikely garden” series took root when Ginny planted a flower garden during the summer of 2020. The real garden occupied her during the crazy time of COVID and the “unlikely garden” took form from imagining materials and colors with a fantastical view.

The Collecting Pool Series — This series originated via Ginny’s observations of lily pads on the pond’s surface. The sizes and colors of the overlapping forms, as well as the interstitial spaces, highlight the interconnectedness of life on the collecting pool.

The Dumfriesshire Series — Dumfriesshire is a historic county in southern Scotland. In November of 2022, Ginny lived and worked there as an artist-in-residence to learn about the land, the people, and the culture of the region. She created these gouache works as testament to her impressions. Gouache is an opaque watercolor medium in use for over 12 centuries.

The Sweet Fruition of an Earthly Crown I and II — These mixed media encaustic works memorialize Ginny’s aunts, uncles, and grandparents who taught her the blessings of the bounty in fruits and blooms.
